Yesterday afternoon I arrived in Istanbul. I came expecting a full-on intense hustling bustling city. ‘Comes as a shock to travellers’ my guidebook says. I was shocked: it is nothing like that. After Medan, it feels like Christchurch. But it’s awesome! I’m in Europe! Everything is old. I’ve been to the most famous tourist places, and wandered aimlessly. Both have been fun. I’m looking forward to exploring more of it in the next few days.

And this the blue mosque. It’s pretty blue, but it’s not that blue. Nice though.
